Calvados beyond french borders
West Coast, East Coast : Calvados Travels Across the United States
2024 has been a decidedly American year for Calvados distilleries.
Over the course of six months, we embarked on an extraordinary journey to promote the excellence of Calvados on the international stage. Our iconic bottles crossed the Atlantic, carrying with them the craftsmanship and rich heritage of our terroir.
This mission began in March with memorable visits to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New Orleans—key destinations for showcasing our tradition and expertise.
In June, we continued our journey on the East Coast, making stops in Miami, Austin, and Washington, DC.
To cap off this first half of the year, we hosted a two-day event at Bar Convent Brooklyn.
At every stop, we organized masterclasses to delve into the many facets of Calvados: its origins, production methods, appellations, distillation processes, aging, and diverse expressions. Beyond these technical aspects, we also shed light on the eco-friendly practices that are integral to Calvados' development.
These gatherings allowed participants to explore the diverse ranges offered by each distillery through dynamic and convivial tasting sessions.
Additionally, dinners provided an opportunity for insightful discussions about Calvados’ role in a "back bar" or as part of refined food pairings. The objective was to uncover the vast potential of our "French Apple brandy," especially through the lens of mixology.
To illustrate this, we showcased four distinct cocktails, each offering a comprehensive perspective on how and why to work with Calvados: the Highball, the Appletini, the Espresso Martini, and the iconic Jack Rose.
At Bar Convent Brooklyn, Calvados once again took center stage.
With two masterclasses, lively tastings, and passionate discussions, Calvados captured hearts and minds alike.
